FAILURE TO ELECT A PUBLIC DEFENDER HARMS THE COUNTRY'S EUROPEAN INTEGRATION PROCESS
On December 22, the Parliament of Georgia voted for the candidates for Public Defender, but none of them got the sufficient number of votes. This result does not come as a surprise, as the leaders of the parliamentary majority announced one day before the voting that no agreement was reached with the opposition on any candidate. The candidates nominated by a wide spectrum of civil society did not get the required number of votes (90).

The Appellate Court Upheld Nika Gvaramia’s Imprisonment on a Politically Motivated Case
Today, on November 2, the judges of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals, Merab Jorbenadze, Lavrenti Maghlakelidze and David Mamiseishvili found Nika Gvaramia, the former director of "Rustavi 2" and the founder of "TV Mtavari", guilty of abuse of power (two episodes - the so-called commercial airtime sale and the so-called vehicle episode). As a final sanction, he was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months imprisonment.
